Annual Cadet Scholarship

The Alumni Association funds two (2) scholarships each year, one to a Deck Cadet and one to an Engine Cadet. These scholarships are given to cadets who have completed their first Sea Project, have maintained a
high level of academic performance, and who have shown a willingness to participate in activities that support the needs of the Academy.

Annual Department Head Grant

The Alumni Association funds this grant to each of the two (2) Department Heads (Deck and Engine) and to the Recruiter at the Academy to use as they see fit to support the programs at the School.

Direct Gifts

The Alumni Association has from time to time, been called upon to provide funds in support of various Academy Projects:

1996 – $1,000 for Academy Promotional Video

1996 – $1,500 for Deck Simulator upgrades

1997 – $1,500 for Engine Simulator upgrades

2006 – 2005 $50,000 raised from Alumni as part of the “New Beginning” Fund Raising in support of the new Great Lakes Campus.

2006 – $1,000 for Academy Recruiting DVD

Academic and Administrative Support

Graduates of the Academy have assisted in the classrooms since the very beginning of the school. They give support to the faculty by providing expert and specific knowledge of different aspects of the profession as well as preparing and delivering seminars and forums on topics of interest. The alumni have also been called on to assist in recruiting efforts both locally and regionally. This activity is donated time and to date represents hundreds of man-hours of support.

School Ship Support

The Academy has had many training vessels over the years. Graduates of the Academy have served as volunteer crew for these vessels when called upon to help in delivery or training cruises. As of 2006 this activity represents over $200,000 of donated service.
